December 10, 2012 – Acuitive Solutions, Century Distribution Systems and client Jo-Ann Stores win 2012 World Trade100 Alliance Award – International Freight Category

Charlotte, NC – December 10, 2012 – Global air and ocean freight TMS portal provider, Acuitive Solutions, as part of a unique industry collaboration, shared first place honors in the inaugural Alliance Award competition with Century Distribution Systems and specialty retailer Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts Stores. The award was sponsored by World Trade 100 magazine and SMC³.

The three companies came together to provide Jo-Ann with a single-sourced automated prepayment ocean audit solution that audited 100 per cent of all invoices and facilitated carrier payment. No single company could provide the entire solution by themselves and each made significant changes to their technologies and processes to enable and facilitate the creation of a solution that worked for Jo-Ann.

“Jo-Ann wanted the audit process to be single-sourced from their lead logistics provider Century. Acuitive Solutions’ proprietary audit portal technology provided an advanced audit function that was integrated into Century’s VMS (Visibility Management System) ®. This provided Jo-Ann a completely transparent and highly accurate prepayment audit solution from a single source (Century) with seamless utility and appearance for all three parties,” said Phil Marlowe, President and Chief Logistician for Acuitive.

The solution was integrated into Jo-Ann’s IT systems for use by company functional areas (IT, Payables, Logistics, and Accounting) as a tool for payment, carrier performance tracking and measurement and cost allocation. Jo-Ann received “approved to pay” audited and approved invoices in same 856/ASN feed that was sent in advance of inbound freight receipt. Other benefits of the new streamlined audit process included a 25 per cent reduction in the number of incorrect invoices paid, a significant reduction in Jo-Ann’s involvement in the invoice dispute process (less than .5 per cent of all invoices), costs previously not captured were integrated into Jo-Ann’s existing global supply chain platform and financial reporting systems and labor and time savings of $30,000 from automating a manual process.

“The honor, in the International Freight category, recognizes those who take a more holistic view of the supply chain and the vendors, suppliers, customers, and peers who are partners in driving positive results which benefit all of the partners,” said Sarah Harding Group Publisher of World Trade 100. “Acuitive and its partners looked beyond the four walls of their enterprise to form a first-ever partnership. They also strove to optimize more than transportation costs and flows, which had a significant impact on optimizing other operations as well as providing benefits for all of the partners,” added Harding.

“We’re very honored to be among the many outstanding companies recognized,” said Marlowe. Other award winners included Coca-Cola, Tyson Foods and Burns Logistics Solutions.

Acuitive and its partners will receive their awards at the SMC³ 2013 Jump Start conference on January 22, 2013 in Atlanta, Ga.

May 14, 2012 – Acuitive Solutions Adds New Spot Quote Tool to Portal Services

Acuitive Solutions Adds New Spot Quote Tool to Portal Services Real-time Connectivity Benefits Shippers, Forwarders and Carriers

Charlotte, NC – May 14, 2012 – Global air and ocean freight TMS portal provider, Acuitive Solutions may have created the “perfect storm” for shippers, forwarders, and air carriers with their new air freight spot quote tool, Acuitive SpotManager. “We’ve solved a long standing problem for a lot of folks. We’re helping shippers get the service they need and save money, forwarders to meet capacity commitments and carriers to utilize capacity. It’s a win-win-win every time.” said Phil Marlowe, President and Chief Logistician for Acuitive Solutions.

“It’s a fragmented market largely driven by customers’ static periodic routing guides. One forwarder may be light in a given lane while another is overburdened. Therein lays opportunity. Our customers have been asking for a way to nimbly change course on a given shipment. Sometimes it’s to test the market to see if they can save some money while other times it’s to strategically divert specific shipments to their secondary providers if and when they begin to see signs that their primary providers are struggling to keep up with the volume. SpotManager is also ideal for one off project cargo scenarios where it doesn’t make sense to contract in advance for the shipments. Prior to SpotManager, there was no effective way to bring the shipper and forwarder together to nimbly price and route spot quote shipments.” said Marlowe. Reported savings by users have been publicly stated to have been between 25 and 40 percent versus their existing contracted rates.

SpotManager is not a wide open auction site where any forwarder can randomly jump in to “play the game”. Access is by customer invitation only on a shipment by shipment basis. Email alerts for available shipments are automatically broadcast to the invited forwarders providing the pertinent shipment details with a link to follow which allows them to quickly and easily submit their spot quote online. When the customer has made their routing decision the Acuitive TMS dynamically assigns a routing approval number for the shipment and electronically tenders the shipment to the nominated forwarder including all purchase order details. The same routing information is simultaneously communicated to the supplier by email. Customers can utilize SpotManager through the Acuitive RateManager and global TMS portal solutions and is tightly integrated with the AuditManager electronic prepayment audit services.
